Stain Blocking and Mould Resistant Finishes in Canary Wharf
Water marks, smoke and mould stains sealed in before painting, so they do not come back.
(The job)
How we approach stain blocking and mould resistant finishes
Ordinary emulsion over a water mark or smoke stain lets it bleed back through within weeks. The stain is sealed in with a stain block primer first, then painted, so it stays gone.
Mould is treated and cleaned off before anything is painted, and damp prone rooms get a mould resistant finish. If a mark keeps coming back because of a leak, Bakhodirjon will tell you, so the cause gets fixed and not just covered.
(What is included)

(Method)
How it works

Protect
Floors and furniture are covered and the room is ventilated. Fittings are masked. Nothing goes on until the room is ready.

Treat
Mould is treated and cleaned off the surface. The wall is then left to dry fully. Painting over damp only traps the problem.

Seal
A stain block primer goes over water marks and smoke stains. It stops them bleeding back through new paint. Ordinary emulsion alone cannot do that.

Finish
Mould resistant paint goes on where the room needs it, such as kitchens and bathrooms. The room is cleaned afterwards. If a leak is behind the stain, you are told so the cause gets fixed.

Questions about stain blocking and mould resistant finishes
Will a water stain come back through new paint?
Not if it is sealed first. A stain block primer goes on before the emulsion, which stops water marks and smoke stains bleeding back through.
Can you fix the cause of the mould?
Mould is treated and the room is finished in mould resistant paint. If there is a leak or a ventilation problem behind it, Bakhodirjon will point it out so the cause can be put right too.
Is mould resistant paint different from normal paint?
Yes. It contains additives that slow mould growth, which makes it the right choice for bathrooms, kitchens and other damp prone rooms.
Can you cover nicotine or smoke stains?
Yes. They are cleaned and sealed with a stain block primer first, otherwise the yellowing comes back through new emulsion.
How soon can a water stained ceiling be painted?
Once the leak is fixed and the ceiling is completely dry. Painting a damp ceiling traps the moisture and the stain returns.
