Exterior Painting in Canary Wharf
Front doors, window frames, fascias and masonry, painted and protected against the British weather.
(The job)
How we approach exterior painting
Outside paint has to cope with rain, frost and sun, so the preparation matters even more than indoors. Loose and flaking paint is scraped back, bare wood is primed, and gaps are filled before any finish goes on.
Work is planned around the weather: paint goes on dry surfaces in the right temperatures, so it cures properly and lasts.
(What is included)
- Surfaces washed and scraped back
- Rotten or flaking areas made good
- Exterior grade primer where needed
- Weatherproof finish coats
(Method)
How it works

Protect
Paths, plants and anything near the work are covered. Windows and fittings are masked. Neighbours are kept clear of the work area.

Prepare
Surfaces are washed down and loose paint is scraped back. Bare and rough areas are sanded, and gaps are filled. Outside, this is the part that makes paint last.

Prime
Bare wood and repaired areas get an exterior primer. It seals the surface and helps the top coat hold. Work only goes ahead on dry days in the right temperatures.

Finish
Weatherproof top coats go on once the primer has cured. Masking comes off and the area is cleaned. A final walk round with you closes the job.

Questions about exterior painting
What weather do you need to paint outside?
Dry surfaces and mild temperatures. Paint is not put on in rain, frost or when rain is due before it dries, so outside jobs are booked with some flexibility.
Do you paint masonry as well as woodwork?
Yes. Front doors, window frames and fascias, and masonry walls with a breathable exterior masonry paint.
How long does exterior paint last?
With proper preparation and a good exterior paint, woodwork usually lasts several years and masonry paint longer. Preparation makes the biggest difference.
Do you need scaffolding?
Ground floor work, front doors and low windows are done from ladders. Higher work may need access equipment, which is discussed at the quote visit.
Can you paint a front door in one day?
Usually the door is prepared and given its first coat on day one, with the second coat once it is dry, so plan for it to take two visits.
